The Marriage Protection Amendment is a federal amendment that defines marriage between one man and one woman in ALL 50 STATES, including those who do not have a State constitutional amendment. This amendment to the U.S. Constitution would make marriage legal only between a man and a woman.

///GOVERNOR SCHWARZENEGGER AND 44 LEGISLATORS IGNORE THE VOTE OF THE PEOPLE
  • Governor Schwarzenegger tells backers of same-sex marriage to: never give up.
  • Forty-four legislators, including leaders of the California Senate and Assembly, filed a brief Monday urging that the California Supreme Court overturn Proposition 8.

The people have spoken and Proposition 8 has passed. The people of this state have said they do not wish to recognize homosexual marriages. They have also said they do not wish such important public policy decisions to be made by judges.

Prior to the California Supreme Court's decision of May 15, 2008, Governor Schwarzenegger vetoed homosexual marriage bills coming out of the legislature on the grounds that the people had already said no via Proposition 22 in 2000. Now the people have once again said no. Yet he is hoping for the state Supreme Court to again throw out the people's will. He said, "I think that we will again maybe undo that, if the court is willing to do that, and then move forward from there and again lead in that area."

The Governor is the chief executive officer of this state and should be consistent in his decision-making and respect the will of the people in Prop. 8. Our Governor and State Legislators should stop calling for the courts to overturn the people's will again.

Think about the precedent they are advocating - judges ruling over our state rather than the people through the legislature or directly via the initiative process! They are provoking a constitutional crisis in California.

    Walk Your Faith
    The Christian faith is anything but sleepy; it is to be active, passionate and fruitful. Jesus told His followers that it was characteristic of His people to be "the salt of the earth." He said, " . . . if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men." You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." In the public forum the Christian presence is all but extinct. Anti-faith and anti-religious laws have been passed right under our noses without as much as a whimper coming from Christians. We're to stand for righteousness even if it looks impossible.
