Words to the Wise

Devotional Readings by Pastor Jack Hibbs

Welcome Friends,
These Words to the Wise are a collection of writings that have come from my personal journey with the Lord Jesus Christ. They were birthed out of times that all of us go through. There were days when everything seemed to go just right and it felt as though the very hand of God was upon me. And then, of course, there were other days when nothing seemed right, and crawling back into bed felt like the only reasonable thing to do.

Through them all, the Lord has always been faithful and He has never left me alone. Knowing that we all go through challenging times, Words to the Wise is my attempt to communicate just how good God is to us in every situation.

As a pastor and fellow lover of God, I invite you to consider these brief devotional thoughts. I pray, with hope, that in some way these words might be a blessing to you as you walk with Jesus.

"Incline your ear and hear the words of the wise,
And apply your heart to my knowledge."
Proverbs 22:17

Salvation: Faith or Works?
Great controversy surrounds this section of James, chapter two. "What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him?"(James 2:14) What we say must agree with what we do. What does "believe" really mean? The Church at large is being plagued by its own message these days. It's a message that is warm and inviting, convenient and easy, even politically correct. But theologically, it's as incorrect as any other false way that has come along ? I call it "Easy-Believe-ism." These studies will help you better understand what James is teaching us in this portion of this powerful and practical book. Click to purchase
